Union City played in the semi-finals Friday evening against Cordell where the Tigers won 11-0. Behind pitching of senior Landon Le who gave up 1 hit struck out 5 in 3 innings. Joey Lorenzen pitched the final inning striking out 2 and getting a ground out ending the game for the boys. Union City put up 11 runs, had 9 hits and walked 4 times. Braedyn Reed led the way with 2 hits. The Tigers advanced to finals on Saturday night where they would meet Arapaho-Butler.
Arapaho-Butler started off quick jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the first but it did not take long for the Tigers to respond scoring 2 in the bottom of the first. The second inning was a quick one with neither team scoring a run. Union City came back and scored 2 runs in the bottom of the fourth and 2 more in the fifth.
The Tigers defense locked down and shut down the Indians the rest of the game giving the Tigers the 6-3 victory. Union City took home 1st place of the Hinton Comet Classic.
On Monday the Tigers defeated Rush Springs by a score of 9-1.
