Multiple Teams · Tigers Drop Heart Breaker in Districts

The Union City Tigers suited up against  the AMPO Panthers Friday, September 22nd for the District Championship.

Casey Bieber started the game on the bump and striking out the first two batters of the game. The Tigers had a rough second inning with the Panthers scoring five runs off of two singles and a couple errors made by the Tigers. The Tigers started showing some fight in the top of the third inning and added two runs. In the fifth inning the Tigers offense tied the game up at 5. Bieber held his own for a tough seven and two thirds innings then Jack Walkabout came in the eighth to try and finish the game.

Both teams scored in the ninth inning making the score 7-7. In the top of the ninth, Wyatt Norton singled to start off the inning. Zane Robeaux sacrifice flies to advance Norton to second. Bieber hit a hard single to the right fielder scoring Norton.

In the bottom of the ninth with runners on first and second, tied the game once again and sending it into the 10th inning.

The Tigers were unable to score in the top of the 10th and Amber Pocasset led off the inning with a single and advanced to third base on UC miscues. The Panthers singled home the winning run to take the district championship and move onto regionals.

The Tigers finished the fall season with a 14-8 record.
