Hydro hosted the Union City Tigers where they would play three games that night. The 7&8th grade boys started out, while the freshmen boys and the JH girls cheered them on! Union City knew this would be a challenging game to win, but they were up for a challenge. Coming into the first quarter Union couldn’t penetrate the Bobcat’s defense, the Bobcats could barely get through the Tiger’s as well. The Tigers didn’t score the first quarter, but Hydro put up 6 points.
After both teams got a quick break between quarters, they threw themselves back into the game. Union City came and scored a couple layups, but still didn’t close the gap in scores. The Bobcats didn’t like the Tiger’s hopefulness, and bumped up their score with three layups and a three pointer. The Tiger’s weren’t giving up yet, especially after Coach Anderson’s halftime talk. He said that no matter what the score is, you should never give up. At halftime the score was 15-4, but the Tigers weren’t stopping.
The Hydro girls came out and busted a three to start it off, but the Tigers got 3 easy bumps. Hydro scored multiple layups and 2 free throws. The fourth quarter was when Coach Anderson subbed in the young girls, this would be good playing experience for them, as he later stated. The girls came into a rough start, but got the hang of it later in the last quarter. Morgan Carel, 7th grader, scored Union City’s last points for the game. With the final score of 42-12, the Tigers left knowing what they needed to work on the next day.
