Boys Varsity Basketball · Tigers Improve to 4-1

The Union City Boys suited up at home against the Geary Bison on November 28th. The boys started the game off winning the tip and playing a physical game on offense and defense. Senior Brayden Reed had a good night at the three point line starting the first quarter draining two three’s. Senior Xavier Morales also following up with two three pointers for himself and going to the line and making both his free throw attempts. Sophomore Nando Pizano, Senior Cail Williams, and Senior Colby Combs had a slow first quarter only scoring two points each but playing physical defense for the Tigers. Freshmen, Tyler Ross came off the bench making his first three point attempt and draining it making the score for the first quarter 23 to 9 in favor of the Tigers.

Cail Williams in the second quarter showed some fire and drove to the goal getting two points and later getting fouled and knocking down both of his free throw attempts. Senior, Jack Walkabout got his first points on the board with a three pointer and Brayden Reed also knocked one down in the corner. Nando Pizano scored six points which all of were fast breaks. Xavier Morales added two more points finishing the half with the Tigers up 42 to 21.

Cail Williams had a hot third quarter scoring eleven points making a three pointer, taking a trip to the foul line and knocking both down, and scoring six layups. Colby Combs and Nando Pizano added two more points for themselves and Xavier Morales added three with a trip to the foul line and making one of the attempts and making a goal right under the basket. The third quarter ended with the Tigers up 60 to 27.

The fourth quarter began and Tyler Ross drained another three with scoring on a fast break to follow. Brayden Reed knocked down two more three pointers and Casey Beiber came off the bench adding to more points on the board. The Tigers finished with 73 points and Geary finished with 43. The boys had a good night with the top scorers being Senior Cail Williams with 18 points, Brayden Reed with  15 , and Xavier Morales having 13.  The boys will be back in action against Minco on Friday December the 1st.
