Boys Varsity Basketball, Girls Varsity Basketball · Tigers Take Two

The Union City Tigers and Lady Tigers traveled to Gracemont on Tuesday night.  Coach Anderson and his squad came into the game with a 4-5 record and looked to get to .500. In the first quarter the girls kept the Gracemont Lions on their toes by only allowing them to score one point. Union City’s defense dominated the entire game by only giving 27 points. The entire game was controlled by Union City as they won by a score of 51-27. This loss snapped a two game losing streak by the Lady Tigers and improved their record to 5-5 on the season.

Jamie Schieber led the game with 14 points with Rylee Loudermilk adding 12.

The #20 ranked Tigers took to the court in game number two. Union City came into the game with a 7-2 record and on a two game winning streak. In the first half of the game, both teams came out of the gate with an offensive onslaught. Both the Tigers and Lions combined for 6 three pointers. At the half the Tigers were holding on to a 35-27 lead. In the third quarter the Tigers took control of the game by outscoring the Lions by 12 points and took a commanding lead into the fourth quarter. The Tigers eventually won the game by a score of 78-56.

Xavier Morales had a game high 26 points on the night. Cail Williams added 22 of his own and Brayden Reed put in 15.

The Tigers are now 8-2 on the season and will be taking on the #3 ranked Lookeba Sickles Panthers on Friday night at home!
