The Union City Varsity teams suited up and traveled to Ninnekah on Saturday, January 27th.. The girls fought hard but fell short in overtime. The boys had a close game and came out on top with the ending score being 54-47.

Rylee Loudermilk started the scoring for the Lady Tigers, getting fouled at the three point line, and sinking all three of her free throws. Hunter Johnson added four points to the board in the first quarter. Union City fell behind in the first quarter but came back firing in the second quarter going into half time tied with the Lady Owls. Junior Hunter Johnson had a good game being the leading scorer with 19 points, followed by Freshman, Anyssa Morales had 15 points. The Lady Tigers kept fighting and stayed close for the rest of the game but came up short with the ending score being 55-59.

The Union City Tigers came out blazing, With Jason Schieber leading the first quarter in scoring eleven points. The Tigers shots were falling ending the first quarter in the lead 24-14. Ninnekah kept it close in the second quarter and took Union City by surprise going into half time 31-27 with the Tigers still in the lead. The game stayed close in the second half. Both teams fought hard both scoring ten points in the third quarter. Union City kept the lead for the rest of the game and played hard.

Junior High plays first starting at 4:30 followed by Senior Night Festivities before the varsity teams go against the Corn Bible Crusaders. Remember to wear your neon yellow outfits in support of would’ve been Senior Preston Williams.
