The Lady Tigers traveled to Alex for the Longhorn Classic starting last Thursday. Union City kicked off the tournament by playing Ninnekah. The girls played hard but unfortunately fell short to the Lady Owls, by a score of 52 to 43. Sophomore, Kailee Jackson started off with a three pointer right off the bat and Junior, Laila Goad followed in suit. Jackson also led the team in points with a total of fifteen . However, the ladies lost their momentum and couldn’t get it back.
Union City came back out on Friday to defeat Mountain View Gotebo, 37 to 20. Sophomore, Taytim Woods led the Lady Tigers in points with thirteen. The girls started off strong in the first quarter leading 9 to 4. They kept their drive and took the game.
The Lady Tigers played yet again on Saturday against Chattanooga and were victorious. The Tigers kept the game close and then pulled away in the 4th quarter to take the win, 36 to 30. Goad led the team in points with fifteen in all. Taytim Woods followed her with seven total points. Woods was also awarded All-Tournament for the second time this season. She stated “I couldn’t have done it without my team, they have pushed me to be the best I can be!” Taytim is only a sophomore and has much more coming for her in the next few years.
You can catch the Lady Tigers back in action this Friday against Southwest Covenant, come out and support.
