Walkoff GS Leads Lady Tigers to Victory

On Tuesday, March 10th, the Lady Tigers traveled to the Dibble Festival. After Monday’s games got canceled the girls came out ready to play. The girls took on 6A Norman North to begin the day. The Lady Tigers beat Norman North 10-0 and held the team to 4 hits and 0 runs. Seniors, Allison Kaulaity, Kenadee Belcher, and Brionah O’Neal led the Lady Tigers in hits. Belcher, junior, Emily Loughridge, and freshman, MaKenna DeLong led the team in RBI’s. 

The next game the Lady Tigers took on Riverside. The game was won in dramatic fashion. UC was up 2-0 in the second inning. Riverside scored three runs in the third inning. The Lady Tigers were down to their last at-bat when senior, Kenadee Belcher, laced a double to lead the inning off and put the tying run on second. Union City managed to score the tying run on a deep sacrifice fly.  After multiple extra innings, the Lady Tigers trailed 6-3. Freshman, Mackinzie DeLong singled on a ground ball. With two outs sophomore, Kylie McCoy, and senior, Erica Rodgers, got walked to load the bases. Kaulaity came up to bat and with a count of 1-0 she hit a walk-off inside the park grand slam to end the game and lead Union City to a 7-6 victory. The Lady Tigers record sits at 4-2. They will be at home on Thursday to take on the Verden Lady Tigers. 

Casey Goes Deep in Loss

The Union City Tigers baseball team traveled to Burns Flat-Dill City on Tuesday going into the game with a record of 3-2. Josh Morrison came out on the mound starting off the game for the Tigers. Burns Flat came out scoring four runs leading into the second. Lane Casey started off the second inning with a home run over left field which got the Tigers momentum going. Caleb McSpadden kept the momentum alive and singled on a fly ball to left scoring another run. Reed Miller entered the game third inning and pitched the rest of the game striking out four batters and starting off with nine first strikes finishing out the game with a loss of 9-4 making the Tigers record 3-3.
