The Union City Tigers dominated in the Mulhall Orlando Tournament. The boys in blue started off strong, winning both games last Thursday. The team traveled back out on Saturday to play in the championship game.
Kicking things off on Thursday, the Tigers played Shidler and won 6-1. Junior, Shane McNeil was on the mound and struck out seven. The Tigers scored on a double by senior, Lane Casey, and an error in the first inning. The Tigers secured the win thanks to four runs in the third inning. The boys in blue scored their runs on an RBI error by senior, Bryson Skinner. Senior, Brayden Denning led Union City in two hits in four at-bats.
The boys kept their momentum going in their second game of the day. The Tigers dominated 15-3 against Cimarron. Junior, Blake Ross pitched and got the W on the mound and the Tigers offense took advantage of walks to get the win.
On Saturday, the boys took the championship with a 10-0 win. The Tigers played Glencoe. Brayden Denning was on the mound and threw a complete shutout. Denning allowed only one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out four. Union City secured the win thanks to seven runs in the third inning. Senior, Tyler Ross went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Tigers in hits. The Tigers were sure-handed and did not commit a single error. Sophomore, Brayden Armstrong made the most plays with four in total.
The boys are back in action tomorrow playing Cement at Cement High School.
