Tigers News · Lady Tigers Face A Tough Loss

On November 6th, the Lady Tigers faced off against Calumet. The ladies fought their hardest to keep the score close. The girls never stopped fighting even when they were down. The final outcome of the game was 50-21 with Calumet scoring the win. Sadly, the game was cut short due to a power outage with 2:14 minutes left on the clock in the fourth quarter.

Taytim Woods had to deal with multiple double teams and even triple teams throughout the game and still lead the Lady Tigers with 8 points. Kami Leonard finished second on the team with 6 points. The ladies were unable to overcome a deep deficit as they fell to the traditionally powerhouse Lady Chieftains.

The power outage occurred due to a substation having problems. The school’s faculty was trying their best to bring power back up for the game to continue. The cheerleaders kept the crowd entertained with a cheer off with Calumet’s cheerleaders. They even got some of Union’s crowd and basketball boys to cheer with them. After 45 minutes to an hour of waiting, they finally ended the game and told everyone to go home. This caused the boys game to be cancelled for the night and be pushed back a day.

We asked Taytim and Kami if they think the loss will help them become a better team for the future games. They both said, “I think it will help because we will know exactly what to work on and we can focus on that.” The Lady Tigers will be back in action on Friday against Binger. It is homecoming and the theme is blue out so make sure you deck out in blue and come support your Tiger teams.
